From the nineties and even today, Milind Soman has always stood out for his phenomenal fitness levels. Easily capable of taking on the younger breed of celebrities with chiseled bodies, Milind Soman can run anyone aground when it comes to his physique – all thanks to his dedication towards maintaining a healthy lifestyle and fitness regimen. He recently won the title of Ironman and ran marathons that too barefoot. Surprising, is it? But, you don’t worry as we are here to decode his fitness mantra. Let’s read on to find out more:

Fitness Routine: A lifestyle choice

Milind credits his fitness to his routine when he was only 10 years old. It was when he started swimming and spent 3-5 hours in the pool, training 5 days a week. Following his fitness schedule, he has now changed his workout form but not his fitness goals. Nowadays, he runs barefoot amidst nature for an hour. Being the fitness freak that he is, Milind stresses on making fitness an inevitable part of one’s lifestyle. He says, “Exercise not only helps me stay fit but also removes stress and rejuvenates me.” He also focuses on drinking lots of water. According to him, it is very necessary to keep one’s body hydrated.

Eat healthy to stay fit

Eating healthy is very important and that is what he has done. Milind says, “I start my day with a healthy diet of fruits.” He is also of the opinion that one should never indulge in overeating nor follow unhealthy dieting. He has also given up sugar, smoking and processed food as he thinks our body deserves something healthy and nutritious.

Diet Tips From The Ironman

  • Eat food at regular intervals.
  • Drink plenty of liquids rich in electrolytes such as coconut water, buttermilk, fruit milkshakes, fruit juices etc. to replenish your body.
  • High fat foods slow down your metabolism , so minimize the intake of these. Turn your back on temptation.
  • Take complex carbohydrates so that a steady release of energy is maintained. Simple carbohydrates give an instant energy boost, but they do not have any nutritional value.

A healthy diet plan with a regular fitness regime can help anyone get into great shape and when you have an example like “Milind Soman”, your fitness goals are set. He, in one of his interviews said that, he is fitter today than he was 20 years ago. Now, that is a great phase to be in and if the midlife crisis is so alluring, I can reconcile on the thought, “Age is just a number”. It’s high time we inculcate exercising as part of our daily routine and get back into shape.
